Philip Issenman

Philip Issenman is owner and president of I-D Foods, Canada's largest independent specialty food distributor. Issenman has woven a long and rich history with his company, beginning in 1971, when at the age of 26, he purchased the Imported Delicacies company of Montreal, established in 1948. The company had managed to reverse the post-war movement of food parcels to Europe by importing European specialties to Canada. His acquisitions thereafter included the Henri Jonas Company in 1974, the specialty food division of Rose & Laflamme, the R.H. Melville Company in Vancouver and Superior Foods in Winnipeg from 1975 to 1987. A 50-year veteran of the grocery industry, Issenman holds a Harvard economics degree and an MBA from Columbia. He was inducted into the (ADAQ) Association of Food Retailers of Quebec Hall of Fame in 2021.
