Joe Hudson

Joe Hudson’s career has spanned nearly 80 years. The founder of Burnbrae Farms and now company chairman, he built Burnbrae’s first egg laying barn in 1952. By 1995, the company was a leading supplier in the food service industry, providing a superior extended shelf life product used by fast food giant McDonald’s. Today, Burnbrae is Canada’s largest integrated producer and marketer of eggs and egg products. In 1996, Burnbrae Farms launched Naturegg Omega 3 eggs after working for years with the University of Guelph. That same year, Burnbrae expanded west and now conducts egg business in every province. In 2007, Hudson received the “We Care Hall of Fame Award,” the most prestigious award in the Canadian food service industry. He also received the Golden Pencil award in 2001. He served for 31 years as a director of the Ontario Egg Producers and is the chair of the Hudson-Burnbrae Foundation. Hudson has been recognized by the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame for his leadership, vision and contribution to agriculture.
