Anthony & Gus Longo
Longo Brothers Fruit Markets was born in 1956 when Gus Longo and his late brothers, Tommy and Joe, founded a 1,500 sq.ft. store in Toronto, setting the standard for fresh food. In 1998, Tommy’s son Anthony was appointed president and CEO. Under the leadership of Anthony, Gus and several talented family members, the company has grown to 37 locations in southern Ontario, as well as Grocery Gateway e-commerce grocery delivery service. Among a long list of honours, Anthony received the Golden Pencil award in 2006— one of the youngest recipients ever—while Gus was a 2015 recipient. Anthony and the Longo family received the 2017 Canadian Grand Prix Life Achievement Award. In March 2021, Empire Company Limited acquired a 51 per cent stake in Longo’s.
